Details:
Duration: Approx. 2.5–3 hours (depending on hive activity & group size)
Recommended ages: 5–12 years (max 18 children per session, we need 8 children registered to make a session viable, we can also coordinate with others to make a group)
Group booking at base price: AU$55 per child (for 4–6 children in an activity group).
We offer a 15% discount if you are booking family siblings. Please email hello@thewerombeehive.net to obtain a discount code.
What to bring: closed-toe shoes/gumboots, sun-safe clothing, water bottle, and a curious mind! Protective suits provided.
Location: The Werombee Hive, 1170 Werombi Road, Theresa Park NSW
Please ensure that you book for each child and fill in their details in the booking form.
What You’ll Learn:
What bees are and why they matter
Types of bees in a hive
Bee safety and respect
How a beehive works and bee communication
How to be a Bee friend
Please Note:
This experience involves close interaction with live bees in a working hive environment. Safety is our top priority, and you will be provided with all necessary protective equipment, including child-sized protective bee suits. A parent or responsible adult must accompany all children at all times during the session. Beekeeper Stu will guide you through each step to ensure a comfortable and safe experience. We encourage calm and curious behaviour around the hive to keep both our young beekeepers and our bees safe and happy! While we make every effort to ensure the bees are calm and manageable, participants should feel comfortable working with live insects. No prior beekeeping experience is required, but an interest in nature and sustainability will enhance your experience.
Bee experiences are weather dependent.
Weather & Bee Welfare Clause
Bee experiences are subject to weather conditions on the day.
For safety and bee welfare reasons, hives will only be opened in suitable warm, calm weather. If conditions are cool, windy, rainy, or otherwise unsuitable, the experience will be adapted to a non-hive opening format, including close-up observation from outside the hive, bee education, honey tasting, and hands-on activities.
This is not considered a cancellation but a modification of the experience in line with safety and animal welfare obligations.
Where conditions are unsuitable for any outdoor bee activity, bookings may be rescheduled by mutual agreement
