Copper Foil Stained Glass Workshop - 22nd June 2025

$375.00

Dates:

22nd June 2025

Cost: $375 Per Person

One-Day Group Workshop
Create Beautiful, Intricate Stained Glass Art Using Copper Foil

Workshop Overview:

Copper foiling is an alternative stained glass method that involves using a copper foil tape to bind glass pieces together, rather than traditional lead came. This technique allows for more intricate, detailed designs with delicate lines and fine details, ideal for smaller projects or intricate pieces. Copper foiling is particularly popular for projects like lampshades, sun catchers, and decorative panels, where fine lines and detailed curves are key.

Workshop Outline:
In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn the entire copper foil process, including design, cutting, foiling, and soldering.

  • Designing & Assembling Your Stained Glass:

    • Select a design and transfer it to your glass

    • Learn how to cut and shape glass using professional tools

    • Apply copper foil to each piece of glass for seamless, intricate joins

  • Soldering & Finishing Touches:

    • Solder the copper foil seams together to create a sturdy, beautiful piece

    • Apply patina for a vintage or modern finish

    • Polish your piece to perfection

Common Uses for Copper Foiling:

  • Lampshades: The delicate, intricate designs and curves of copper foil are perfect for creating stunning, functional lampshades.

  • Sun Catchers: Small, detailed pieces, often featuring vibrant colours and fine lines, make copper foiling ideal for sun catchers.

  • Decorative Panels & Jewelry: Copper foiling allows for greater flexibility in smaller, more intricate pieces like decorative glass panels or stained glass jewelry.

What’s Included:

  • 20cm x 20cm (roughly - depending on design) finished copper foil stained glass piece
