A buzzing adventure for kids at The Werombee Hive!

Calling all curious minds and brave little adventurers! Our Little Beekeepers Family Experience is a fun and hands-on journey into the magical world of bees. This is a private bee adventure for the whole family!

Designed especially for curious young bee lovers, this is a private, hands-on experience where children and their accompanying adults can discover the fascinating world of honey bees together.

Under the gentle guidance of The Werombee Man (our resident beekeeper and bee whisperer), kids will learn:

  • What bees are and why they matter

  • Types of bees in a hive

  • Bee safety and respect

  • How a beehive works and bee communication

  • How to be a Bee friend

It’s a safe, exciting, and educational experience designed to spark wonder, build confidence, and create sticky, happy memories.

What’s Included:

  • 1 Little Beekeeper

  • Up to two accompanying Adults

  • A private experience with Beekeeper Stu

  • Up to two hours of bee discovery and hands on learning about the queen, worker bees, and drones.

  • Protective beekeeping gear for the whole family

  • A visit to a working beehive and meet the Bee Girlfriends

  • Learn how to use a bee smoker

  • Explore frames and discover honey, pollen and brood – and hopefully spot the Queen!

  • Honey tasting

  • Seasonal honey extraction experience, when available

  • Bottle a mini jar of honey for your Little Beekeeper to take home

  • Little Beekeeper Certificate

Every Little Beekeeper is different, so we tailor the experience to suit the child's age, confidence, curiosity and interest on the day.

Bringing more family members?

Additional participating children or adults can join the experience for $55 per person, up to a maximum of 6 participants in total.

Please let us know the ages of all children when enquiring so we can make sure the experience is just right for your family.

A note for parents & carers

For younger children, a parent or responsible adult must accompany them throughout the experience.

Our private Little Beekeeper Experience is designed to be shared. Rather than simply watching from the sidelines, accompanying adults are invited to discover, learn and experience the wonderful world of bees alongside their Little Beekeeper.

Weather & our bee girlfriends

As we are working with live bees, all hive activities are weather dependent. If conditions aren't suitable for opening the hives, we'll work with you to arrange another suitable date.

The welfare of our bee girlfriends – and the safety and enjoyment of our visitors – always comes first.ote:

This experience involves close interaction with live bees in a working hive environment. Safety is our top priority, and you will be provided with all necessary protective equipment, including child sized protective bee suits. A parent or responsible adult must accompany all children at all times during the session. Stuart will guide you through each step to ensure a comfortable and safe experience. We encourage calm and curious behaviour around the hive to keep both our young beekeepers and our bees safe and happy! While we make every effort to ensure the bees are calm and manageable, participants should feel comfortable working with live insects. No prior beekeeping experience is required, but an interest in nature and sustainability will enhance your experience.

About Stuart

Nestled in the peaceful landscapes of Theresa Park, NSW, Stuart has spent the past ten years building his farm and his passion for beekeeping. As an experienced apiarist, he’s constantly learning and dedicated to sharing his knowledge with others.

Stuart’s interest in bees started a decade ago, and since then, he’s focused on perfecting his beekeeping skills. He’s especially experienced in managing bee diseases, handling swarms, and running an apiary. Stuart’s expertise and dedication was further underscored by his involvement with the Department of Primary Industries where he played a pivotal role in the frontline response to the varroa mite, showing his commitment to both safety and community -a challenge that demanded both expertise and agility.
