A Busy Few Weeks Behind the Scenes
If it's felt a little quiet on here lately, I promise we have not been sitting still.
The past few weeks have been full in the most wonderful way — the kind of full that leaves you tired and grateful in equal measure. Here's a little of what we've been up to.
The Camden Show
What a day. What a two days, really.
The Camden Show is always one of our favourite events of the year — there's something about a show that reminds you why community matters. We had the most beautiful time connecting with so many of you at our stall. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, tasted the honey, asked about the bees, and took the time to chat about what we do here at The Werombee Hive. Those conversations are always, always the best part.
I also finally snuck away to the pavilion to see all the wonderful entries — and had quite a few exciting moments of my own. Second prize for my plum jam, first prize for my honey cake, first prize for my handmade Lillian doll, and first prize for my crocheted teddy. I won't pretend I didn't do a little happy dance right there in the pavilion. More than once.
It was such a special day, and we're so grateful for all the support over both days of the show. It truly means the world to us.
The Homeschool Bee Experience
In between all of that, we've also been running our Homeschool Bee Experience — and honestly, it might be one of our favourite things we do.
There is something completely magical about watching a child's face the moment they step up to a real hive for the first time. Eyes wide, questions tumbling out one after another, complete and utter wonder. We had over 20 kids join us for our school holiday session and the energy in the air was something else entirely.
The kids suited up, visited the hives, made rolled beeswax candles, tasted honey straight from the comb, bottled their own little jar to take home, and learned why bees matter so much to the food on our plates and the world around us. Stuart was in his element — there is no better audience for a beekeeper than a group of curious eight-year-olds with a thousand questions and absolutely no filter.
We've loved every single session. The smiles, the learning, the little moments of magic.
Our next Homeschool Bee Experience is coming up — spots are limited so if you'd like to join us, head online to book: thewerombeehive.net/homeschool-bee-program
Lights, Camera… The Werombee Hive
We also had a wonderful morning recently with the team from Wide Span Sheds — filming and doing a full photo shoot right here on the farm.
Because The Hive, our farmstay accommodation, was purpose-built from a Wide Span shed. And what started as a vision and a whole lot of hard work has become something we are incredibly proud of. Wide Span wanted to show others what's possible with their sheds — and we were only too happy to be the proof.
It was a great morning. Cameras, crew, sunshine, and a space that no longer resembles anything like the shed it once was. It's been shaped by imagination, love, and more than a few long weekends.
So yes — busy. Beautifully, gratefully busy.
More to come soon.
with love,
Ally & Stuart
